The first rule of your Loyalty program… is to always talk about your Loyalty program.
The more members you sign up to your loyalty program, the greater the benefits to your business (here’s a short case study we wrote on that). So to help you grow your membership faster, here are a few tips:
#1 Promote, promote, promote!
Promote your loyalty program with your customers at every opportunity. Train your staff to explain the program and its benefits with every customer in store. Signage at your checkout counter and on your website can be highly effective to create more awareness, but the best way to get your customers enrolled is by talking to them. It only takes a few seconds to highlight the benefits and get them enrolled as they checkout: all you have to do is to capture their first name and last name along with their email address.
#2 Rewards to look forward to:
Your customers should be aware of and excited about the rewards your program offers. Everyone likes unlocking rewards when they shop, just look at how popular credit card and travel reward programs are: many people are obsessed with building up their points balance and customer status so they can unlock perks.
#3 Incentivize signing up:
Give your customers an incentive to sign up on the spot! Welcome points are cost effective way to promote enrollment. It could be positioned as a “thank you” gift for buying at your store and a great way to introduce your customers to your Loyalty program.
#4 Gamify your loyalty program:
Make your program fun for both your members and your staff.
For members; create occasional special experiences or services that only they have access to.
For staff; reward them for signing up members. Create weekly and monthly competitions that reward them for signing up members. Track the growth of your membership closely and keep the program top of mind for your staff.
#5 Reward referrals:
There is no better ambassador than a happy customer. Ask them to refer friends and family to sign up to your loyalty program and give them points for referring them to your business. This is another great way to grow your customer base and show appreciation to your loyal customers.
The more customers you sign up to your loyalty program, the more opportunities you have. The value of each member far outweighs the effort required to sign them up.
